File Taxes From Anywhere

File Your Taxes From Wherever You Are

Remotely by a

45-Year Expert Team

For 45 years, Carolina Business Services has built its reputation one client at a time, right here in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Sit-down appointments. Face-to-face conversations. The kind of personal attention that makes people drive past the big chain tax offices without slowing down. But life doesn't always make it easy to get to our office.

File taxes from anywhere with our team behind you all the way!

Maybe you moved away from the area but still trust us with your taxes. Maybe you live in another part of North Carolina or another state entirely. Maybe you travel for work, or your schedule just doesn't line up with our office hours. Whatever the reason, we still want to be your tax team.

That's exactly why we use Secure File Pro, a private, encrypted client portal that lets us work together without you ever having to leave home. Professional tax preparation, wherever you are.

What Is Secure File Pro?

Secure File Pro is a secure, web-based portal that gives each of our clients their own private space to exchange documents and communicate with our team. Think of it as your own personal file folder — one that only you and our office can access, protected by 256-bit SSL encryption.

It works on any device. Whether you're on a desktop computer, a laptop, a tablet, or a smartphone, you can log in through any standard web browser. There's nothing to download and nothing complicated to set up. If you can check your email, you can use Secure File Pro.

Why Not Just Use Email?

This is a fair question, and it's one worth answering plainly. Regular email is not a secure way to send tax documents. W-2 forms, Social Security numbers, 1099s, business records. This is exactly the kind of information that identity thieves are looking for. Standard email passes through multiple servers on its way to a recipient and can be intercepted.

Secure File Pro was built specifically to protect sensitive financial documents. Every file is encrypted both during transfer and while stored on the server. Your documents are accessible only to you and to our team—no one else. The IRS specifically recommends that tax preparers use secure portals rather than standard email for exchanging client documents, and Secure File Pro meets those requirements.

What You Can Do Through the Portal

Once you have your account, working with us remotely is straightforward. Through the portal you can:

  • Send us your tax documents:  W-2s, 1099s, business income records, receipts, and anything else we need to prepare your return. You can upload files directly from your digital device.
  • Receive your completed tax return: When your return is ready, we'll upload it to your portal. You can review it, download it, and keep a digital copy for your records.
  • Ask questions and keep the answers: Secure messaging within the portal means our communication stays in one place. You can refer back to it anytime you need to.
  • Receive requests and updates from us: If we need an additional document or have a question during preparation, we'll send the request through your portal so nothing gets lost.

Like all returns we prepare, your completed return is filed electronically with the IRS which means faster processing and faster refunds.

Same Personal Service, No Matter Where You Live

Using the portal doesn't mean handing your taxes off to a website or an automated system. We still communicate either by phone or through the tax portal. It works just like an email, only private and secure for all your sensitive documents and questions.

We love seeing you in person. But when life gets in the way, the portal makes sure you continue to receive the same careful, thorough service you'd get sitting across the desk from us. The same experienced team. The same thorough review of your specific situation. The same commitment to making sure nothing is missed.

The technology handles the document exchange. Our team handles your taxes—the same way we always have.

Is Remote Tax Filing Right for You?

The secure portal works well for a wide range of clients, including former local clients who have moved away but want to keep working with a team they trust, individuals and small business owners living elsewhere in North Carolina or in other states, clients with schedules that make in-person appointments difficult, and anyone who simply prefers the convenience of handling things electronically from home.

We prepare taxes for clients in all 50 states, and for American citizens living abroad. The portal is how we make that work smoothly for everyone involved.

Getting Started Is Simple

If you're an existing client, you may already have a portal account. If not, we’ll send you an invite to set up your own account in your name. Then, once your account is active, your personal portal is always accessible with your user name and password.

If you're a new client and would like to work with us remotely, just give us a call at 828-287-9595 or reach out through our contact page. We'll get your account set up and walk you through everything you need to know.

And of course, if you're ever in the area and want to stop by in person, the door is always open. No appointment necessary.
